Austin has been spared a snow day, but amid the chilly weather, we decided to look back and see when our all-time snowfall record was set.
How it works: The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) captures snowfall maximums from each county, along with the exact measurement location.
Zoom in: Travis County's one-day snowfall record was set on Feb. 15, 2021, with a total of 7.4 inches.
Stunning stat: Boulder County, Colorado, holds the U.S. record for most recorded snowfall in a single day, with 76 inches — over 6 feet! — on April 15, 1921.
The largest single-day snowfall in Texas was 25 inches in Lipscomb County, in the northeast corner of the Panhandle, on March 28, 2009.
What's next: Relatively chilly weather still lies ahead, but freezing temperatures aren't in the forecast for next week.
