Austin-based jewelry company Kendra Scott is expanding its local footprint.
Driving the news: The company's first-ever Yellow Rose store opened on South Congress on Friday, showcasing its new Southwest-inspired jewelry collection.
- The store is directly across the street from the flagship Kendra Scott store and features a hat bar, boots, Western apparel and jewelry.
The big picture: The 22-year-old company has seen recent success in new retail spaces, products and collaborations with superstars like Dolly Parton and Lainey Wilson.
- CEO Tom Nolan told Axios Pro's Richard Collings earlier this year that Kendra Scott's revenue increased nearly 20% year over year to around $500 million, and sales are expected to continue growing by double digits.
Zoom out: Western wear has become big business nationally, with private equity money pouring into Austin firms like Tecovas.
Zoom in: Kendra Scott herself, the company's executive chairman, has continued to reshape her more than two-decade-old jewelry empire.
- "We're always thinking about the next thing — how we can do something differently," she told Axios at the store's grand opening party. "This Yellow Rose brand is a perfect example of that."
- The store emphasizes Western wear and is named after Scott's own Texas family ranch.

We recently caught up with Scott about the new store and to ask her about her perfect day in Austin, part of our regular series.
Here's our condensed conversation:
How do you think you've kept this brand relevant for over two decades?
"We do make genuine connections with our customers, and we have a multi-generational customer. You'll see three generations shopping in our stores together, and all leaving with something and all feeling great about what they have. ...
- I think our philanthropic side of the company, too, is such a big differentiator for us than other brands. We've given over $70 million since 2010 to women and youth causes. I mean, we really put our money where our mouth is, and our time."
Were you keeping anything in mind about Austin and South Congress when opening this store?
"South Congress for me has always been what Austin's about, whether it was when I would come down here, when I was younger ... It was so vibrant, and it just felt like Austin to me.
- This brand is all about my love of Austin, Texas and my love of my Texas heritage. It had to be an authentic place. This is an older building as well, so we really wanted to keep the aesthetic of it and really bring it back to life in a beautiful way."
Now, walk me through your perfect day in Austin. Where do you start?
"We have a lot of dogs. I would take a dog or two, and I like to go to Mozart's. It's right by my house, so we can walk there. It's so pretty to sit on Lake Austin, grab a cup of coffee. It's just such a beautiful setting.
- Sometimes I'll throw them back in the car, and then we'll go do like Hill of Life, or we'll go do one of these amazing hikes in Austin."
For lunch?
"If the weather is nice to sit on a patio for lunch — it's always a big treat for me.
- I love being on South Congress, and a lot of times I love to come by and visit my store and see my team, so I love June's All Day. June's has just such great atmosphere. I love the food. I love the drinks."
How are you wrapping up your day?
- "If I've got three meals out — which is not usually typical — I love Uchiko. My 20-year-old son is a prep chef there now, so it makes it even more special to go because I get to hear about all the things he's working on in the kitchen."
Any kind of nightcap?
"Gosh, we are so lame. We've got six kids. We don't nightcap that often, and I don't even know where the cool places are to go anymore. I do like the bar at Jeffery's because it's cozy, especially in the winter when they have the fireplace going."
