Annual Texas State parks passes are about to get pricier.
The big picture: The price increase is the second since the program began in 2004, per the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
Zoom in: The cost for a regular pass will rise from $70 to $95 on Sept. 1.
An annual pass that allows free state park entry for nonprofit youth group members and adult sponsors will rise from $100 to $150.
How it works: The pass provides free day-use access to all 88 Texas state parks for members and their guests.
Passholders also get 10% off most items at park stores, and discounts for activities and events.
What they're saying: "We hope people take advantage of the next few months by getting their annual Texas State Parks Pass before the price increases this fall," Jill Kreindler, Texas State Parks marketing and brand manager, said in a statement.
If your current pass expires after Sept. 1, you can renew it early (up to 150 days beforehand) to get another year of pass benefits at the $70 price.
💠Our thought bubble: This is still one of the best deals in Texas.
