Austinites will find 80 feet of art to admire the next time they head to an Austin FC game.

The latest: CapMetro unveiled the new mural mosaic, titled "The Heartbeat of Austin," at McKalla Station earlier this month.

  • The mosaic, which captures the faces of fans, public figures and transit workers, was designed by muralist J Muzacz of Something Cool Studio.
  • Over 100,000 individual glass pieces were hand-assembled by community members, local leaders and volunteers.

What they're saying: "It was incredibly rewarding to bring together so many people of all ages and abilities along for the process," Muzacz said in a statement. "The Heartbeat of Austin' is truly a culmination of our community's collective power to join together and create something beautiful and timeless, perfect in its imperfection."

If you go: Find it on McKalla Station's eastern platform, near Delta Drive.

  • The new station opened in February and is now the closest rail stop to Q2 Stadium.
