Early voting for the Nov. 2 election is here, and Austin voters will weigh in on two local propositions, in addition to eight Texas constitutional amendments.

State of play: So far, turnout has been low. Just 2.25% of Travis County voters headed to polls or voted by mail during the first three days of early voting, according to the Travis County clerk's office.

Yes, but: That's not unusual for an election in which no major political offices are on the ballot.

If you're among the remaining 97.75% of registered voters who still need to cast ballots, we’ve got your backs. Here's what you should know before heading to the polls:

  • Know the polling hours: Early voting runs through Oct. 29 — aka next Friday. Travis County polling sites are open 7am-7pm Monday through Saturday and 12pm-6pm on Sundays. Polls on Election Day will be open 7am-7pm.
  • Check if you're registered: You must be registered to vote 30 days before an election in Texas. Use the Texas Secretary of State's online tool to check if you're registered to vote.
  • If you're voting by mail: The deadline to submit a mail-in ballot is 7pm on Election Day or Nov. 3 at 5pm as long as it's postmarked by Election Day. If you’re eligible to vote by mail in Texas, today is the last day to apply for a mail-in ballot. You can hand deliver your application to meet the deadline, too. Check if you're eligible here.
  • Find your nearest polling location: Travis County voters can vote at any polling site. Use the Travis County clerk's online tool to find sites for early voting and Election Day.
  • Bring your ID: Texas voters must bring a valid ID. If you do not, you may cast a provisional ballot. Acceptable forms of photo ID include a Texas driver license, a passport and a state-issued personal identification card.
