George Strait will descend upon Austin on April 29 for the grand opening celebration of the new Moody Center.
State of play: “Strait from Moody Center” will feature the king of country alongside Willie Nelson and his Family band. San Marcos-based Randy Rogers Band will open the show.
It's only the second time in their careers that Strait and Nelson have shared the same stage.
- "I'm so glad I'll get to 'sing one with Willie,' and I can’t think of a better place to do it than Austin, Texas," Strait said in a statement. "Willie is an incredible musician and an even better person, so I know this will be a great night together along with our friends from Randy Rogers Band."
The new Moody Center is set to replace the 43-year-old Frank Erwin Center at the University of Texas.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Oct. 22 at 10am. American Express cardholders can purchase tickets starting this Wednesday at 10am. Fans who sign up for Moody's newsletter by Oct. 18 can receive pre-sale access starting Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 10am.
