Head of ISIS in Afghanistan reportedly killed in U.S. airstrike

American officials say the Islamic State's leader in Afghanistan, Abu Sayed Orakzai, has been killed in a targeted airstrike, reports CNN.

The big picture: ISIS has ceded much of its territory in Iraq and Syria, causing a significant number of its fighters to move into Afghanistan — and allowing the U.S. to focus its efforts on eliminating the terrorist organization there.
