First look: Democratic memo examines voters' views on Trump impeachment

A memo from GQR about a nationwide survey sponsored by sponsored by Stand Up America and Need to Impeach found that Americans "view the Ukraine events as much stronger reasons to support impeachment than the Mueller report and evidence of Russian interference in the 2016 elections."

Why it matters: The memo says the Ukraine scandal has "fundamentally different dynamics" than the debates about the Mueller report, which could pose a stronger challenge to the Trump administration.

Democrats' internal impeachment polling memo

While national support for an impeachment inquiry is growing, it's not a clear winner for Democrats in the most competitive House districts just yet.

  • That's according to an internal impeachment polling memo, obtained by Axios, that was sent to House Democrats Thursday night.

Why it matters: Their vulnerable members this cycle are the ones who helped the party win the House in 2018 because they were in districts that flipped from Republican or that Trump won in 2016. They're not in the clear yet, as an impeachment inquiry is only "slightly favorable 49-48," per Democrats' memo.

House Democrats plan messaging push on Trump and Ukraine

House Democrats today will release a four-page memo making the Ukraine case against President Trump, "Truth Exposed: The Shakedown ... The Pressure Campaign ... The CoverUp," plus a video, "Do Us a Favor."

Plus, in a challenge to Republicans who often have resisted such measures, Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office says the SHIELD Act (Stopping Harmful Interference in Elections for a Lasting Democracy), a package to protect elections from foreign interference, is expected to come to the floor for a vote this week.

Scoop: New cyber memo warns of security risks, exposes leak hunt details

A second internal memo on White House cybersecurity, obtained by Axios, reveals new details about how IT officials inside the Trump administration were dispatched to investigate leaks embarrassing to President Trump.

Where it stands: The memo, dated June 1, has surfaced only now amid controversy over a different memo explaining the concerns surrounding an exodus of cybersecurity staff brought in under the Obama administration to protect the White House from Russian hacking.
