With wedding season taking off and travel rebounding, Denver will be a hotspot for bachelor and bachelorette party trips this summer — and even more so in years ahead.
Driving the news: Denver ranks among the top cities for booking bride- and groom-to-be parties, according to a recent report from the BACH, a bachelorette party planning app company based in Philadelphia.
What they're saying: "Denver wasn't even on our radar a year ago," BACH co-founder and CEO Mike Petrakis told Alayna.
- Petrakis predicts the city's attraction will grow, "especially as more businesses come up in Denver that cater towards large groups, like pot tours and brewery tours."
Between the lines: Denver's central geographic location and affordability compared to popular playgrounds like Miami and Vegas — combined with its plentiful offerings of outdoor and urban fun — make it a prime destination to party pre-wedding day.
State of play: About 1,500 trips have been booked for Denver later this year through the BACH app, and Petrakis expects that number to hit 5,000 by July as the company ups investments in marketing and local partnerships.
By the numbers: Of the parties scheduled so far, the average group size is about 10 people.
- 80% plan to stay in an Airbnb.
- 51% plan to spend more than $250 on accommodations, which Petrakis said could be a key economic driver for Denver's economy.
Yes, but: Other lists seem to be split on whether the city truly is becoming a celebratory hub.
The big picture: "People used to go on bach parties in places like Breckenridge and Vail, and to the bougie ones in Aspen, but now people are going to Denver and getting the best of both worlds for a lot cheaper," Petrakis said.
