Emmer says he plans on staying put as whip: "I don't think anything's changing"

• "I love my job. I would love to continue being the whip. If they want to hire somebody else, that'll be up to the members. But I'm going to continue doing this job as long as they give me the privilege of doing this job," Emmer told Axios during a sit-down interview at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas
• Republicans currently have Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Emmer (R-Minn.) in the top three leadership posts.

Driving the news: "I am going to be the whip, and I don't think anything's changing," Emmer told Axios when asked if he would run for the top leadership spot.

• Emmer expressed confidence that Republicans will maintain control of the chamber, predicting that Johnson would remain speaker and Scalise would remain in his current post.
• "Anybody who's talking otherwise is already being a loser," Emmer said. "We are going to win in November."

The intrigue: Emmer's comments come as other Republicans are beginning to make moves that could position them for a leadership shakeup after the election.

• Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan has decided not to seek a waiver to remain atop the committee next Congress, prompting speculation about his leadership ambitions.
• Asked about Jordan's maneuvering, Emmer said it was "news to me" and praised Jordan as "one of the best leaders" in the Republican conference.

Asked if he thinks Jordan would make a good minority leader, he said, "You're not going to get me to start pitting my friends against one another."
