The Information is launching a new, weekly live show focused on the technology behind the artificial intelligence boom, executives told Axios.
Why it matters: It's part of a broader video push by the outlet, which chief advertising officer Lindsay Meech says is pacing to become an eight-figure revenue business by 2027.
Zoom in: "AI Deep Dive" will be hosted by The Information's AI reporter Rocket Drew. The program will air Mondays at noon PT beginning Sept. 14.
- The show will feature interviews and live conversations about the thornier technical problems facing AI, such as robotics.
- Its entire first season is sponsored by EY Consulting, per Meech.
Zoom out: "AI Deep Dive" is the second major video show from The Information, following the launch of its daily live show, "TITV," last year.
- Video has proved fertile ground for audience expansion, per The Information senior producer Sydnee Fried.
- The company has gained more than 1.2 million social followers since launching "TITV" last year. It's conducted more than 1,000 interviews in that time.
- While the program is live, the majority of viewership comes from social clips, Meech said.
Between the lines: The Information's free shows are built as an extension of the outlet's niche, professional coverage, which is paywalled, per Meech.
- Business and tech practitioners are eager to tune into live coverage of breaking stories as they unfold in print.
- She said "TITV's" daily show is the first of more to come. Finance is a subject area ripe for video programming, she added.
The big picture: More tech and business publishers are eyeing daily live video shows as a way to engage professional audiences outside of their inboxes.
- Longtime CNBC anchor Deirdre Bosa left the network last month to launch her own daily live video show.
- The New York Stock Exchange launched a live weekday morning show called "NYSE TV Live" in 2024.
- Other entrepreneurs have launched their own micro live shows, including "Stabledash" for investors and "MTS Live," an X-based show backed by a16z, among others.
- Fortune and Morning Brew air video shows daily.
