Emily Underwood, the top deputy to Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, is leaving the White House, Axios has learned.

Why it matters: Underwood has been a core part of the White House policy team since the transition to President Trump's second term.

She focused on coordinating policy strategy across the federal government and led the administration's efforts on nuclear energy research and development.

What's next: Underwood will be a partner at Trust Ventures, a venture capital firm.

She'll be succeeded by Caleb Orr, a longtime top adviser to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Orr has been a key architect of the State Department's critical minerals, energy and commercial diplomacy policies.
