Savannah Guthrie to host new Wordle game show on NBC

Zoom in: The new show, which is set to debut sometime next year, will be hosted by "Today" host Savannah Guthrie and executive produced by late-night host Jimmy Fallon.

• The primetime game show is being produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio, in partnership with Fallon's Electric Hot Dog production studio and the New York Times.
• The Wordle format will be licensed globally by NBCUniversal Formats, a division of Universal Studio Group.
• The new fast-paced program asks players to solve five-letter word puzzles in a way that builds on the community aspect of Wordle fandom, the companies said in a statement.
• "The most-obsessed and competitive players will team up in squads and go head-to-head in the 'Wordle' arena, playing for an incredible cash prize," NBCUniversal said in a press release.
