Senior White House aide Alex Meyer heads to Trump's political team

Senior White House official Alex Meyer is stepping down from his role leading the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, Axios has learned.

Driving the news: Meyer is expected to join President Trump's outside political operation, which is gearing up for the midterm elections.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff James Blair, who served above Meyer, also is leaving the administration. He'll help lead Trump's political operation, which has more than $300 million to spend.
Meyer was deputy political director on Trump's 2024 campaign, managing operations in the battleground states of Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
