$50m investment in voter turnout adds to Trump's midterm firepower

A super PAC closely aligned with the Trump administration plans to spend more than $50 million on voter turnout, providing a major financial boost to the GOP as it weathers a challenging midterm environment.

Driving the news: Chris Buskirk, an ally of Vice President Vance and the leader of the Turnout for America super PAC, made the announcement at a retreat hosted by the Rockbridge donor network.

Buskirk oversees the network, which has been meeting over the last few days at the Four Seasons hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
Vance is scheduled to address the conference Monday evening.

The big picture: Turnout for America's planned investment adds to Trump's already massive financial firepower heading into the midterms.

The pro-Trump MAGA Inc. super PAC has more than $300 million on hand.
Millions more are in the bank account of Securing American Greatness, a so-called "dark money" group that, because of its nonprofit status, is not required to disclose its donors.
Innovation Council Action, a nonprofit group devoted to promoting Trump's AI agenda, is on deck to spend more than $100 million in the midterms.

Turnout for America is expected to coordinate closely with the cash-flush Trump operation, according to a person familiar with the plans.

What they're saying: Representatives for the Rockbridge Network did not respond to requests for comment.

Flashback: Turnout for America spent more than $45 million in support of Trump in 2024.

Now-Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick donated $2 million to the group during the campaign.

Inside the room: The Rockbridge retreat is drawing big names in the Republican donor world, including activist Rebekah Mercer and crypto executives Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss.

Meta President and Vice Chair Dina Powell McCormick was among the speakers.
