This new tool ranks the jobs with the highest odds of AI disruption

Computer programmers, customer service reps and data entry workers top the list of jobs most likely to be replaced by AI, according to a new analysis.

The big picture: Early research suggests that AI's impact on the workforce will be uneven, hitting desk-based digital roles harder than physical, in-person jobs — though some evidence suggests the blue-collar jobs will be at risk, too.

Driving the news: The tool was built by sports media betting platform The Action Network using data from new Anthropic research that measured how AI is used across workplace tasks.

The most at-risk jobs for AI

Here's a breakdown of the top five jobs with the highest odds:

Computer programmers — 45%.
Customer service reps — 42%.
Data entry keyers — 40%.
Medical records specialists — 40%.
Marketing research analysts and specialists — 39%.

The safest jobs from AI

Several jobs had 0% estimated odds of replacement, per The Action Network's tool, including:

Legislators.
HR managers.
Farmers, ranchers, agricultural managers.
Food service managers.
Postmasters and mail superintendents.

What they're saying: "The real dividing line in the AI job race isn't education level or salary. It's whether the work happens mainly on a screen or in the real world," the Action Network's analysis team writes on the tool's website.
