McDonald's makes McNugget Caviar a real thing

McDonald's is marking Valentine's Day by turning a long-running internet joke into an official product drop: Chicken McNuggets with caviar.

The big picture: The fast-food giant is leaning into ironic luxury — turning internet-native jokes into official products as brands chase cultural relevance, not just customers.

Dig in: McDonald's is releasing free, online-only McNugget Caviar kits on Feb. 10 at 11am ET.

Each kit includes a 1-ounce tin of "McNugget Caviar" — premium Baerii sturgeon caviar — plus a $25 Arch Card for nuggets, crème fraîche and a mother-of-pearl spoon.
McDonald's didn't disclose how many kits will be available but told Axios only "a few lucky fans" will be able to snag one at McNuggetCaviar.com.

Between the lines: It's the latest in a growing wave of novelty food stunts designed to generate buzz rather than scale.

LongHorn Steakhouse recently teased $50 Steak Commitment Rings — silver rings made with real steak and seasoning — as part of a Valentine's campaign. The rings go on sale online Wednesday.
