Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino will resume his podcast on Feb. 2, marking the grassroots return of one of the right's most prominent brawlers.
Why it matters: Bongino left his popular show to become the FBI's No. 2 in March, and his return to the microphone revives one of the most popular podcasts in the right's media ecosystem.
- Since leaving his administration post earlier this month, he has hammered critics within the right and has teased a no-holds-barred tone once his show resumes.
What they're saying: Rumble, which streamed Bongino's show before he entered the administration, announced that his podcast will return at 10am ET on Feb. 2.
- The show will air weekdays for two hours. Vince Coglianese, who has filled in Bongino's timeslot, will host his show at 8am ET.
- Bongino's show will livestream exclusively on Rumble and be distributed on demand to other major podcast platforms.
- Before leaving the show, Bongino racked up millions of streams and was among the highest-ranked news podcasters.
"The new version of The Dan Bongino Show will expand on its legacy with a renewed focus on Washington insights, behind-the-scenes details from his time in government, and a message of hope and resilience in the conservative movement," the show said in a press release.
Zoom out: Back in the private sector, Bongino has hammered right-wing doomerism after some criticized both him and President Trump for a supposed lack of transparency over everything from the Jeffrey Epstein files to alleged government targeting of conservatives.
- Now, he's warning that he'll try to excise those critics from the right.
- "The thing about black pillers where everything sucks all the time…they're like, 'well, we're demanding accountability.' Great, so am I. You're endlessly complaining about things you don't even know anything about. That's all you do," he said on the Nightly Scroll podcast last week. "Debating policies are fine. But the black pill complaining and whining all the time about the administration, it's just like, 'man, what team are you on?'"
- "Yes, 'gatekeeping' is absolutely going to happen…You don't allow cancers into your clubhouse and then plan to win baseball games. You waive them, trade them, or release them," he later added on X. "WE built this movement. It's OURS. And now we're going to take it back."
Bongino did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding what he's learned or what he plans to do differently on his show upon his return.
Catch up quick: During his 10-month FBI tenure, Bongino teased revelations from inside the government that he said "shocked me down to my core."
- While at the FBI, he clashed with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the Justice Department's handling of the Epstein case.
