Costco profit jumps in latest quarter prior to tariff lawsuit

By the numbers: Net sales for the 12-week quarter ended Nov. 23 rose 8.2% to $66 billion, up from $61 billion a year ago.

• Membership fees rose to $1.33 billion from $1.17 billion a year ago, the company said.

Flashback: Costco extended its shopping hours for executive members at its U.S. warehouses in late June — a subtle but significant shift nearly a year after raising membership fees for the first time since 2017.

Market impact: The company's shares were down about 0.5% in after-hours trading Thursday as of 5:30pm ET.
