Rock Hall 2025 ceremony: Grunge, hip-hop and '80s icons head to LA

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame takes center stage in Los Angeles on Saturday for the 40th annual induction ceremony.

Why it matters: This year's ceremony features 1980s icons, hip-hop royalty, grunge pioneers and some of Hollywood's elite.

Driving the news: The event will take place at the Peacock Theatre on Nov. 8 and stream live on Disney+ at 8pm EST.

Pro tip: Ensure your Disney+ settings permit access to TV-MA content, which is how the ceremony is categorized.

Here's everything else you need to know about this year's ceremony:

Seattle-centric

If there's a headliner this year, it's Soundgarden. The grunge band will perform alongside artists like Brandi Carlile and Taylor Momsen as stand-ins for late singer Chris Cornell.

Seattle legends Jerry Cantrell, Mike McCready and Nancy Wilson are also expected to participate.

"The South got something to say!"

It doesn't look like inductee Outkast will perform, but the group's hometown of Atlanta will be represented well with guests J.I.D., Sleepy Brown, Killer Mike and Donald Glover.

It's still unknown whether Outkast's Big Boi and André 3000 will attend.

Salt-N-Pepa's here

Outkast may not be performing, but Musical Influence Award recipient Salt-N-Pepa is.

The group will perform its biggest hits, including "Whatta Man" alongside special guest En Vogue.

Midwest Princess

Chappell Roan, who will induct Cyndi Lauper, will be the biggest contemporary star at the ceremony.

We could get a moment like when Taylor Swift opened the ceremony in 2021 with a performance in honor of Carole King.

Other big names

Rumor has it Elton John will pay homage to the late Brian Wilson, while Twenty One Pilots will perform "Seven Nation Army" in honor of inductee The White Stripes.

Actor Jim Carrey will induct Soundgarden, one of his favorite bands, while David Letterman will handle the honors for his late friend Warren Zevon.
Other guests include Mick Fleetwood (who will induct Bad Company), Olivia Rodrigo, The Killers, Janelle Monáe, Missy Elliott, Beck and more.
