Trump expands White House renovation with Lincoln Bathroom remodel

• Constructing the $300 million ballroom with private donations raises ethical questions about donors trying to gain access to Trump and his administration.

The latest: Trump on Truth Social shared a side-by-side image of the previous Lincoln Bathroom next to his latest version.

• "It was renovated in the 1940s in an art deco green tile style, which was totally inappropriate for the Lincoln Era," the president said. "I did it in black and white polished Statuary marble."
• "This was very appropriate for the time of Abraham Lincoln and, in fact, could be the marble that was originally there!"

Zoom out: Trump unveiled the renovation during the ongoing government shutdown, with about 750,000 federal workers furloughed, more than 1.4 million civilian employees unpaid and approximately 42 million Americans expected to lose SNAP benefits starting tomorrow.
