Anthropic now valued at $183 billion

By the numbers: Anthropic disclosed that its annual revenue run rate reached $5 billion in August, after being at around $1 billion when 2025 began.

• It was valued at $61.5 billion during a March fundraise led by Lightspeed.

The bottom line: Anthropic is well-regarded, especially for coding.

• But being in the business of developing cutting-edge models remains ultra expensive, and the costs seem to be accelerating instead of slowing down. For example, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said that he foresees his company needing to invest trillions of dollars.
