Trump promises no American boots on the ground in Ukraine following security talks

Driving the news: Asked about the potential U.S. involvement in the security guarantee of Ukraine, Trump said in an exclusive interview with Fox & Friends that there would be no American boots on the ground defending the Ukrainian border.

• "You have my assurance, and I'm president," he said. "I'm just trying to stop people from being killed."

Zoom in: During the interview, Trump also said that he thought Putin and Zelensky were getting along "a little bit better."

• "After that meeting, if everything works out, I'll meet and we'll wrap it up," Trump said. "It takes, in this case, two to tango. They have to have somewhat of a relationship, otherwise we're just wasting a lot of time."
• "I just want to end it," he said at another point in the conversation. "We're not losing American lives or American soldiers."
