Epstein victims condemn Trump administration for plan to unseal grand jury testimony

What they're saying: "I am not some pawn in your political warfare," one victim wrote. "What you have done and continue to do is eating at me day after day as you help to perpetuate this story indefinitely."

• "I am not sure the highest priority here is the victims, justice for the victims, or combatting child exploitation, or at least I do not feel this way," the other wrote, adding that the priority was protecting "wealthy men."

Zoom in: One of the victims asked District Judge Richard Berman to have an approved third-party review the documents to ensure that no victim's name or likeness is released. The other asked for the victims' attorneys to be able to review the redactions.

• "It is imperative with the scrutiny over this media frenzy that the victims are completely and entirely protected," one letter said.

The other side: The Trump administration, in a Tuesday filing, asked the court to decide by Aug. 8 whether it would allow the unsealing of grand jury exhibits.

• The Department of Justice said the government provided notice of the unsealing motions to all but one of the victims referenced in the grand jury transcripts.

• "The government still has been unable to contact that remaining victim," the filing said.

What we're watching: House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) subpoenaed multiple former government officials and demanded that the Justice Department release all documents related to the Epstein inquiry by Aug. 19.
