The White House on Tuesday published a list of staff salaries, revealing how much each West Wing employee makes.
Why it matters: The annual report to Congress gives a peek into the more than 400 staffers who surround President Trump, from his closest advisers to more junior aides.
The intrigue: With a salary of $225,700, adviser Jacalynne B. Klopp is the top-paid person in the White House.
- Second is associate counsel Edgar Mkrtchian who makes $203,645.
Zoom out: 33 employees earn $195,200, including:
- Susie Wiles: chief of staff
- Karoline Leavitt: press secretary
- Tom Homan: border czar
- Stephen Miller: assistant to the president; deputy chief of staff for policy; homeland security adviser
- Sergio Gor: assistant to the president; director of the Office of Presidential Personnel
- Peter Navarro, assistant to the president; senior counselor for trade and manufacturing
Zoom in: Most deputy assistants make between $155,000 and $175,000
- Most special assistants earn between $121,500 and $150,000.
- Presidential speechwriters make between $92,500 and $121,500.
- 108 employees earn between $59,000 and $80,000.
Behind the scenes: The list names eight employees with no salaries, including crypto czar David Sacks and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is paid by his agency.
- A White House official said Wednesday that Rubio and Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff are dual employed by the State Department and White House.
- "The others are a mix of uncompensated special government employees & other government employees," the official said.
