Ex-Biden doctor to sit for deposition with House Oversight

• The panel has also subpoenaed a multitude of the ex-president's closest aides, including former White House chief of staff Ron Klain.
• O'Connor had been the only person so far who did not comply with the panel's request for voluntary testimony. News of his agreement to sit for a deposition was first reported by NBC News.

What we're hearing: O'Connor's closed-door deposition is set for July 9, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

• House Oversight Committee chair James Comer (R-Ky.) initially asked O'Connor to sit for a transcribed interview on June 25.
• "The Committee seeks information to ensure accurate information was provided to the American people and your health reports were not subject to any improper influence," Comer wrote in a letter to O'Connor.

Between the lines: At issue is whether Biden's cognitive and physical health while he was in office was worse than described in the largely glowing assessments given by O'Connor.

• "The Committee continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding your assessment in February 2024 that former President Biden was 'a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency,'" Comer wrote.
