Crypto industry to hold big fundraiser for Trump PAC

The crypto industry is holding a $1.5 million-a-head fundraiser for President Trump on Monday in Washington, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by Axios.

Why it matters: Trump has been cozying up to the crypto industry — including by launching a crypto venture called World Liberty Financial, which he cofounded last year with longtime friend Steve Witkoff now the White House's envoy to the Middle East.

Trump launched an OFFICIAL TRUMP meme coin before taking office — a brazen move that raised conflict-of-interest questions over whether he would use the presidency for personal profit.
The Trump family's foray into crypto also has made lawmakers in both parties wary because the White House is pushing stablecoin legislation at a time when World Liberty Financial is promising to launch such a token.
Trump has also planned an upcoming "Intimate Private Dinner" to be held for the meme coin's top investors.

Driving the news: Tech titan David Sacks is co-headlining the fundraiser, which is being dubbed the "Crypto and AI Innovators Dinner."

Proceeds will benefit MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump super PAC that the president has been aggressively raising money for ahead of next year's midterm elections.
Sacks is a close ally of Trump adviser and DOGE leader Elon Musk.
