Virginia Giuffre, Epstein and Prince Andrew accuser, dies at 41

Virginia Giuffre, who alleged the late financier Jeffrey Epstein arranged for Prince Andrew to sexually abuse her, died by suicide at 41 years old on Friday, multiple outlets reported.

Zoom in: Prince Andrew, Queen Elizabeth II's second son, denied the abuse allegations, settled a related lawsuit with Giuffre in 2022 and did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement.

What they're saying: Giuffre's family said in a statement obtained by the New York Times that Giuffre was "a fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse and sex trafficking" and "the light that lifted so many survivors."

The family said she died at her farm in Western Australia after being "a lifelong victim of sexual abuse and sex trafficking."

Catch up quick: Epstein was arrested in 2019 and charged with sex trafficking of underage girls before he was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in an apparent suicide while awaiting trial.

Following his death, court documents detailing Giuffre's accusations and others were unsealed in a civil suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, who was convicted on charges related to helping Epstein sexually abuse teen girls.

Zoom out: Giuffre wrote in an Instagram post in March that she was injured in a crash with a school bus and was days away from dying of renal failure.

"This year has been the worst start to a new year, but I won't bore anyone with the details," she said in the post, going on to describe the crash and recovery process.
