N.Y. helicopter firm shuts down after fatal Hudson River crash, FAA says

New York Helicopter Tours, the company involved in the Hudson River crash that killed six people, "is shutting down their operations immediately," the Federal Aviation Administration said Sunday.

The big picture: The National Transportation Safety Board is leading investigations into the helicopter crash that killed a Siemens executive, his wife, their three children and their pilot on Thursday.

Zoom in: The FAA said on X it would continue to support the NTSB probe while also "launching an immediate review of the tour operator's license and safety record."

The agency "is already analyzing airplane/helicopter hotspots nationwide, and we will be hosting a helicopter safety panel on April 22 to discuss the findings, risks, and additional mitigation options," the FAA added.
Representatives for New York Helicopter Tours did not immediately respond to Axios' request for comment in the evening.
