Who was in the Trump administration's explosive Signal group chat

The big picture: The inadvertent inclusion of The Atlantic's editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg in the group is the saga's needle in a haystack, but screenshots from the chat posted by the magazine revealed 19 members were part of the group.

• The most high-profile members of the group chat included: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National security adviser Mike Waltz, Vice President JD Vance, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
• Other prominent names include White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Alex Wong, Waltz's deputy.

Zoom in: Also believed to be part of the Signal chat — dubbed the "Houthi PC small group" — is Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, identified as "TG" in the chat. At a House hearing Tuesday, Gabbard refused to confirm her participation.

• Trump officials also designated members of their staff as points of contact, some of whom were included in the chat. Among them are Mike Needham, Rubio's chief of staff, and Joe Kent, Gabbard's acting chief of staff.

• Other members of the chat are identified only by their first names or initials. The Atlantic said Wednesday it had declined to reveal the name of Ratcliffe's chief of staff, revealed by Ratcliffe in the chat, at the CIA's request.
