What we're hearing: This season has the best behind-the-scenes footage of "Happy Gilmore 2" that anyone's ever seen, co-creator Chad Mumm tells Axios.
- "It was a lot of fun seeing the players be on set, hang out with Adam Sandler, and try their hand at making a movie."
"Eyes on the Prize III" available now on Max
State of play: Inspired by Henry Hampton's 1987 documentary series, this new installment examines the fight for racial equality from 1977 to 2015.
Max's thought bubble: Some of the archival footage brings up a lot of emotions as it helped me to see the fight for justice through the years.
"Running Point" available now on Netflix
The intrigue: Kate Hudson, Brenda Song and Jay Ellis star in this comedic series based on the life and career of Jeanie Buss.
- The Los Angeles Lakers owner is an executive producer on the series along with Hudson and Mindy Kaling.
Driving the news: Pepperdine University (located in Malibu, Calif.) sued Netflix and Warner Bros claiming the use of "Waves" as the fictional team's name infringes its trademark. Wednesday, a California court denied Pepperdine's request for a temporary restraining order, ruling that First Amendment predictions apply to the show's artistic expression.
- "While we are disappointed with today's ruling, we believe the University will ultimately prevail and prevent the continued unauthorized use of Pepperdine's intellectual property in a way that misrepresents our institution," Sean Burnett, Pepperdine University senior vice president and chief marketing officer, said in a statement after the ruling.
