Trump calls Gaza takeover a "real estate" deal but says there is "no rush"

Catch up quick: On Tuesday Trump presented a plan to displace two million Palestinians from Gaza and take over the enclave.

• Trump initially declined to rule out sending in U.S. troops to Gaza, a sharp shift from a president who has railed against military involvement and nation-building abroad.
• Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas immediately rejected the suggestion, calling Gaza "an integral part of the State of Palestine," according to the BBC.
• Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and many other countries in the region have made clear in recent days that they oppose any plan for displacing Palestinians from Gaza.
• Over the last 72 hours the White House seemed to be partially walking back the plan.

What they are saying: Trump said there are "no deliberations" over the plan.

• "The U.S. would view it as a real estate transaction. We will be an investor in this part of the world. No rush to do anything," he said.
• Trump claimed Israel will "supply" Gaza to the U.S. after "there won't be anybody there," which means there will be no need for U.S. troops as American provides Security, he added.
• He claimed a U.S. investment in Gaza would help is creating peace.
• "We don't want to see everybody move back and then leaving again in 10 years. We want to see stability and it would bring stability in the area", Trump said.
