Trump promises "Golden Age of America" in White House return

• "The golden age of America begins right now," Trump said during remarks after his swearing in. "From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world."

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection website said on Monday that existing appointments at certain border points of entry have been canceled, Axios' April Rubin reports.

• Undocumented immigrants can also no longer submit advance information or schedule appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry on the CBP app, the website said.

Context: The mobile application, CBP One, allowed users to check border wait times, apply for a provisional legal visitor status (I-94 entry), request inspection of agriculture or biological products and more.

The big picture: The changes to the CBP One app echo promises President Trump made on the campaign trail about making it harder to enter the U.S. for migrants.

Yes, but: Trump's promises largely focused on undocumented immigrants while those using the CBP One app were seeking entry through legal means.

Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino, who is in Davos at the World Economic Forum, issued a statement affirming that the country's "Canal is ours." He rejected Trump's repeated claim Monday that anyone else controlled or could control it.

Why it matters: It's not clear how Trump plans to assume authority over the global artery, property of a sovereign ally, as he's indicated he wants to do. But his repeated threats could cause a crisis, Axios' Ben Berkowitz writes.
