"History is in your hands" Biden tells Americans ahead of farewell address

• "It has been the privilege of my life to serve this nation for over 50 years ... I have given my heart and my soul to our nation," Biden wrote in his letter.
• Biden highlighted his administration's work to lower inflation, lower prescription drug costs, and expand health insurance access.

What he's saying: In his letter, Biden emphasized that this work is not complete and called on Americans to "build on the progress we've made."

• "I ran for president because I believed that the soul of America was at stake. The very nature of who we are was at stake. And, that's still the case," he wrote.
• "History is in your hands. The power is in your hands," Biden concluded.
