Pelosi injured and hospitalized during trip to Luxembourg

House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained a serious injury to her hip and was hospitalized during a congressional visit to Luxembourg, several sources familiar with the matter told Axios.

What they're saying: The 84-year-old former speaker is cancelling the rest of her CODEL engagements but "continues to work," Pelosi spokesperson Ian Krager said in a statement.

Pelosi sustained the injury from a fall, the sources said.

Driving the news: "While traveling with a bipartisan Congressional delegation in Luxembourg to mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation," Krager said.

Pelosi "is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals," the spokesperson added.

Zoom in: The bipartisan CODEL was set to run through Saturday and included 17 other House members, according to Speaker Mike Johnsons' (R-La.) office.

Several Republicans on the trip issued statements wishing Pelosi well after the incident, with Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul (R-Texas) saying he is "disappointed" that Pelosi won't be able to attend the rest of the trip.
"But she is strong, and I am confident she will be back on her feet in no time. Praying for a speedy recovery," he added.
