Jay-Z accused of raping girl, 13, in 2000: Rapper calls lawsuit "blackmail"

Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Sean "Diddy" Combs in an amended civil lawsuit that was filed Sunday. Carter strongly denies the allegations that date back to 2000.
Context: The anonymous accuser's lawsuit was filed in October against Combs. Fellow rapper and music mogul Carter was added as a defendant in the amended suit on Sunday.
- In addition to this lawsuit, Combs faces dozens of other suits accusing him of sexual misconduct and he was indicted on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. He denies all allegations that have been leveled against him.
Driving the news: The accuser, referred to in the suit as "Jane Doe," alleges that Carter and Combs "took turns assaulting the minor" at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party, NBC News first reported.
- Jay-Z in a statement posted to X via Roc Nation, his entertainment company, called the allegations "so heinous in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil one!"
- He called the filing by Houston-based lawyer Tony Buzbee on behalf of the accuser "a blackmail attempt" and added that "if not for the seriousness surrounding harm to kids," the "idiotic" claims made against him would be "laughable."
