Trump taps Fox News' Sean Duffy for transportation secretary

• He's the second Fox News personality nominated for Trump's next White House — and the first former "The Real World" cast member to join the administration.

Zoom out: Duffy, if confirmed, will face a string of air, rail and supply-chain issues, including the effects of climate change on transportation, safety issues at Boeing and threats of labor union strikes.

• He'll succeed Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, a star of the Democratic Party.

What they're saying saying: "During his time in Congress, Sean was a respected voice and communicator in the Republican Conference, advocating for Fiscal Responsibility, Economic Growth, and Rural Development," Trump said in his announcement, adding that Duffy is "admired across the aisle."

• The president-elect added: "The husband of a wonderful woman, Rachel Campos-Duffy, a STAR on Fox News, and the father of nine incredible children, Sean knows how important it is for families to be able to travel safely, and with peace of mind."
• Fox News said in a statement following the announcement that Duffy would depart the network effective immediately, adding: "We wish him the best of luck in his return to Washington."
