Former President Trump won the presidential race early Wednesday after Republicans dominated Election Night.
The big picture: Vice President Harris called Trump to concede the election in the afternoon, hours before she addressed supporters at Howard University in Washington D.C., urging them to keep fighting and keep working for a brighter future.
- Trump's coming return to the White House capped an unprecedented election cycle and sidelined Harris' historic quest for the White House.
- The former president celebrated his comeback as the "greatest political movement we've ever seen" during a Wednesday morning speech in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Beyond the presidency, Republicans flipped the Senate by picking up seats in West Virginia and Ohio.
- Control of the U.S. House could take weeks to call, but the path for Democrats to hold a majority has narrowed considerably.

Harris took the stage to cheers and used her speech to encourage supporters to accept the election results.
What they're saying: She told those gathered that though she's conceding the election, she does not concede "the fight that fueled this campaign" and "the fight for the ideals at the heart of our nation, the ideals that reflect America at our best."
- "That is a fight I will never give up," Harris said.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was among those waiting to hear Harris speak at Howard University, her alma mater, on Wednesday afternoon.
Driving the news: Harris is scheduled to make a speech shortly to the gathered crowd, hours after she called Trump to concede the 2024 presidential race.
