Girl Scouts prices are on the rise

• Dues are the biggest source of revenue for the Girl Scouts, bringing in nearly $40 million as of last year from about 2 million members.
• But it's still losing money, with projected operating losses estimated to reach $5.6 million this year.

The intrigue: An initial proposal sought fees of $85, which is what Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) charges as of earlier this year.
