Robert Telles sentenced to at least 28 years in murder of Las Vegas journalist

• The sentencing enhancements by Judge Michelle Leavitt were for use of a deadly weapon in a premeditated killing, lying in wait before the attack and the age of the reporter.

Context: German had reported on Telles' office, disclosing bullying, favoritism and a relationship with a staffer.

What's next: Telles intends to pursue an appeal, his defense attorney Robert Draskovich said on Wednesday.

• "I understand the desire to seek justice and have somebody accountable for this," Telles said in court. "But I did not kill Mr. German."
• "My deepest sympathies to the family," he added. "And I wish them well as they navigate the rest of this tragedy."
