Exclusive: House Dems to spotlight GOP "dysfunction," DelBene says

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chair Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.) said during an Axios House event on Monday that House Republicans' "dysfunction" will be a cornerstone of her party's 2024 strategy.

Why it matters: Democrats are hoping to capitalize on the track record of a Republican House that has been marked by historic upheaval, including the first ever ouster of a speaker, to win back control of the chamber on Nov. 5.

Driving the news: DelBene told Axios' Niala Boodhoo "right now we've got chaos, dysfunction and extremism in the House of Representatives."

"You've all seen it, from day one with 15 rounds of speaker elections, threats of shutdowns, and even we got sent home early in July because Republicans couldn't agree with Republicans," she said.
"Those are the things that drive people at home crazy. They are like, 'We need you to get work done that can make a difference for us. Go work, make that happen.' And that's a huge priority for us."

What to watch: DelBene said Democratic candidates are "absolutely" making that dynamic a key part of their message on the campaign trail.
