Trump effort to push back oral arguments in case against Fani Willis denied

Oral arguments are set for December in former President Trump's case against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, after a motion to reschedule was rejected on Wednesday.

Why it matters: The effort to disqualify Willis from Trump's electoral interference case has delayed legal proceedings against the Republican presidential nominee until after the election.

Postponed oral arguments were requested by Trump's lawyer Steve Sadow to accommodate a pre-paid international trip with his wife to celebrate his 70th birthday and their 45th wedding anniversary, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Context: Trump's legal team argued that Willis' relationship with then-special prosecutor Nation Wade caused a conflict of interest.

A lower court ruling to allow Willis to stay on the case is now being reviewed by a Georgia appeals court.
