U.S. men's soccer team booted from Olympics by Morocco

PARIS — The U.S. men's soccer team was eliminated from Olympic competition on Friday after falling to Morocco 4-0 at Parc de Princes stadium.

Why it matters: It's a disappointing end for the team, which made it to the quarterfinals by finishing with two wins and a loss in group play.

Catch-up quick: Morocco got out to a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick in the 29th minute, following a controversial call in the box.

Morocco, which dominated the play throughout the match, scored again in the 63rd minute to take a 2-0 lead.
The team then scored on another penalty in stoppage time to add to its tally, making the score 4-0.

Between the lines: It was a solidly pro-Morocco crowd, which whistled with displeasure whenever the U.S. possessed the ball.

The crowd was warned against the use or possession of fireworks and flares, after flares were visible following Morocco's goal.
