California Gov. Gavin Newsom endorses "fearless" Kamala Harris

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris after President Biden dropped out of the 2024 race on Sunday.

Why it matters: It's another big-name endorsement that should boost Harris, after former President Bill Clinton and ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton backed her bid for the Democratic presidential ticket earlier Sunday.

What he's saying: "Tough. Fearless. Tenacious," Newsom wrote of California's former U.S. senator and top Bay Area prosecutor.

"With our democracy at stake and our future on the line, no one is better to prosecute the case against Donald Trump's dark vision and guide our country in a healthier direction than America's Vice President" Harris, he added.
