Biden reschedules Austin trip following attempted Trump assassination

President Biden is rescheduling his trip to Austin, Texas previously scheduled for Monday following the attempted assassination of former President Trump.

Why it matters: The Biden campaign effectively paused all activity following the shooting at Trump's rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania.

Biden was set to deliver remarks on Monday at the LBJ Library in Austin.

State of play: Biden delivered remarks on Saturday evening following the shooting, which killed rally attendee Corey Comperatore. The suspected shooter is also dead.

Biden condemned political violence during his remarks on Saturday evening, saying: "There's no place in America for this kind of violence, it's sick. It's sick. It's one of the reasons why we have to unite this country."
Biden and Trump also spoke briefly on Saturday following the attempted assassination.

Zoom in: The Biden campaign paused all outbound communications on Saturday and was working to pull down television ads as quickly as possible, per a campaign official.

The abrupt pause in campaigning comes as Biden has faced calls from members of the Democratic Party to withdraw from the race following his shaky debate performance last month.
