Hurricane Beryl lashed Texas with severe flooding on Monday and has left millions of people without power, as the storm continues its path inland on Tuesday.
The big picture: At least eight people died in Texas and Louisiana after Beryl made landfall on Monday, bringing heavy winds and flash floods. About 2.3 million people are still without power in Texas as of Tuesday morning.
State of play: "Widespread heavy rains and thunderstorms are likely along and to the northeast of the path of Beryl over the next two days," the National Weather Service said Tuesday.
- Between two to five inches of rain are expected from central Arkansas across parts of Missouri and Illinois and all the way up to portions of New Hampshire and Vermont, the NWS added.
