Biden’s base of support emerges in the Black Caucus

President Biden will call into a Congressional Black Caucus meeting on Monday evening as he tries to parry calls from Democratic lawmakers to withdraw his 2024 candidacy.

Why it matters: The Black Caucus has emerged as Biden's most loyal bloc of supporters within Congress, with a raft of its members calling for him to remain in the race on Monday.

"President Joe Biden is the nominee and has been selected by millions of voters across this country," Rep. Steven Horsford (D-Nev.), the Black Caucus chair, said in a statement.

What we're hearing: Biden will join a Zoom meeting with Black Caucus members at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, according to three sources familiar with the plans.

The Biden campaign said the discussion will focus on "the stakes of the 2024 election and their shared commitment to beating Donald Trump this November."
Biden will speak and field questions from Black Caucus members, the campaign said.
