President Biden and former President Trump faced each other for their historic first televised 2024 presidential debate.

The big picture: CNN was hosting the debate — the first in U.S. history between a sitting and former president that was notable for Biden's initial stumbles and Trump's falsehoods, per Axios' Erin Doherty, Thomas Wheatley and Kristal Dixon.
