Universal Music Group and Spotify on Thursday expanded their relationship, with UMG artists to get expanded video and social features for promoting new releases.

Why it matters: This deal strengthens ties between UMG and Spotify, amid the record label's fight with TikTok.

Zoom in: UMG's artists will be able to share teasers of upcoming songs on Spotify, as well as pre-save activity.

  • Spotify also will be able to feature music videos as part of a separate agreement with Universal Music Publishing Group.

Catch up quick: UMG in February began pulling its songs of its artists, including Taylor Swift, from TikTok after its contract expired.

  • Late last month, it began pulling even more songs from non-UMG artists that were under its publishing catalog.
