Workday, the cloud-based platform that helps companies manage their people and money, has named Gina Sheibley as chief communications officer, Axios first learned.

Why it matters: Sheibley is part of a broader leadership shakeup, which includes newly appointed CEO Carl Eschenbach and chief marketing officer Emma Chalwin.

What she's saying: "Over the past 25 years, I've learned that I need to work for a company that I can believe in and be proud of," Sheibley told Axios. "And for me that's a company that's both doing well and doing right by the people it serves — that's Workday."

Zoom in: Sheibley, a Salesforce and Qualtrics alum, will assume the role on March 25 and will report to Chalwin.

  • She will oversee the team responsible for all global internal and external communications, including public relations, analyst and influencer relations, content strategy, customer advocacy and employee and executive communications.

What's next: Sheibley is watching how the AI craze will impact the work of communicators.

  • "Breaking through the noise is a challenge, but I think Workday has a competitive advantage because they've been delivering AI for close to a decade. ... Customer storytelling and data-driven storytelling is going to be key to bringing our AI value proposition to life even further and inspiring others when it comes to responsible AI, which is core to the company."
